Tyler Mane and Penance Lane

I first met Tyler Mane at Wizard World.  Mane is a former pro wrestler, who became an actor.  Our interview with him and Renae Geerlings can be found at On the Beat with Tyler Mane and Renae Geerlings.
Tyler just informed me of a project of his.  Penance Lane is a horrifying feature film from Mane Entertainment and Tyler is looking for some assistance with the project.  All of the info can be found at the IndieGoGo page for Penance Lane.  There are several perks at various levels of contributions, but all contributions are welcome and appreciated.
The perks include signed merchandise, special access and even the possibility of being on set.  Penance Lane has financial backing already, but this will add another layer of backing to make Penance Lane into a reality.  This is a unique opportunity to be part of something special.
Tyler is a good dude.  He is also very talented.  I am certainly looking forward to the finished product of Penance Lane and I hope some of you will help that project in any way you can.

Friendly Encounters: Sarah French Meets Tyler Mane

This is a regular series about friends who have met celebrities.

I always get a kick out of celebrities wanting pictures with other celebrities at conventions.  Of course, I also get a kick when one of the celebrities is a friend.  Such was the case when Sarah French met Tyler Mane at Flashback Weekend, a great yearly  convention in the Chicago area.
I actually saw Sarah at Wizard World, where her and Joe Knetter were checking out stuff and meeting other celebrities.  Later, they made their way to Flashback Weekend.
I have written many times that I absolutely love Sarah (yes, and Joe, too).  They are two of my very favorites and definitely two of the coolest, nicest celebrities I have met.
Sarah took pictures with several celebrities, but I chose the one with Tyler Mane (actor and former wrestler).  We had interviewed Tyler at some point during the Wizard World convention.  Wow...all of the worlds are colliding here.
At this point, I must also add that Tyler (and Renae Geerlings) were also very nice when we interviewed them.  They graciously gave us several minutes of their time.
In any case, I am always interested to see which celebrity another celebrity grabbed for a photo.  Of course, it is hard to predict which celeb wanted the photo with the other or if it was mutual.
If all of that is confusing, don't worry.  Just look at the lovely Sarah and it will all be better.
As for me, I am hoping to see Sarah (and Joe, too) again sometime this year.  I don't think they will get as big of a thrill from posing with me, but I am sure they will be good sports.  They always are!

On the Beat with Tyler Mane and Renae Geerlings at Wizard World 2012

JohngysBeat.com's Contributor Extraordinaire Matt Parker scored a double interview when he landed husband-wife team Tyler Mane and Renae Geerlings at Wizard World.  The pair was promoting "Compound Fracture" (their upcoming movie) and we are happy to help promote it.
Tyler is an actor and former pro wrestler.  Renae is an actor, singer and former comic book editor.  The two make an interesting couple.
Their upcoming movie, "Compound Fracture" was written by the couple and stars the couple, along with Derek Mears, Leslie Easterbrook and many others.  According to the Compound Fracture Facebook page, "A shattered family must heal old wounds in order to escape a high-tech compound haunted by the vengeful ghosts of their past."  Okay, I am hooked.
I love movies like this.  It is slightly under the radar, but produced with a lot of work, enthusiasm and passion.  Tyler and Renae were excited about it and I honestly am excited, too.
Matt had a little extra fun with Tyler right at the beginning.  Lest anyone think Matt or JohngysBeat.com doesn't know its stuff, it was a planned small joke and Tyler had fun with it, too.
After you watch the interview, check out the Compound Fracture Facebook page to learn more about this movie and to get updates.  I really want to thank the couple for their time.  I wish them much luck with their project and I hope to meet them again!
