Mascot Spotlight: Villanova's Will D. Cat

In 1926, Villanova University held a contest to adopt a mascot. Assistant football coach Edward Hunsinger suggested Wildcats. Over the years, Villanova had a caged wildcat at all football games. There were four cats in total, all named Count Villan (I through IV). That practice ended in 1950 and a mascot was officially added.
Will D. Cat proclaims himself to be the coolest cat on campus. He also claims to take a mean selfie and encourages fans to test him on that. Of course, I had to get a selfie with him at the Big East Women's Basketball Tournament. I have to admit, he does take a darn good selfie.
Go to Villanova.com for more info on the Wildcats. Also, check back here for recurring fun with mascots.
