A Worthy Waite

Every year one of my clients, Global Traveler, has a big anniversary/awards gala at a hotel in New York. In 2005, the Guest of Honor was Terry Waite.
Waite first became famous when he negotiated the successful release of hostages in Iran in 1980. In January of 1987 he was taken captive while trying to negotiate the release of hostages in Lebanon. In November of 1991, 1763 days later, Waite was finally released.
Waite amazed our crowd with humble tales of his captivity, some humorous, some poignant. He truly is a hero. He is also a warm, friendly man. It was an honor meeting him.

Terry Waite and me in New York, NY-January 2005.
