Driving in Monkee Style

I will be driving to the Motor City Comic Con in my 2009 Ford Escape. It's a nice vehicle and this will be its first road trip. Unfortunately, it isn't quite as cool as the little beauty I saw at the MCCC last year.
I saw a custom 1966 Pontiac GTO convertible. It had a few 'tweaks' in it and is more commonly knows as the MonkeeMobile.
The Monkees (Peter Tork, Mike Nesmith, Micky Dolenz and Davy Jones) needed a cool car for their 60's tv series The Monkees. GM donated the GTO to NBC to turn into the MonkeeMobile, provided that 'GTO' and 'Pontiac' appeared on the finished product.
It remains one of the most well-known vehicles. The BatMobile, the General Lee and maybe the (fictional) Mach 5 are other famous vehicles, but the MonkeeMobile will always be my favorite.
I liked the Monkees. I don't care if they weren't a typical band. I don't care if they were the prefab four. They made good music and their show was entertaining.
Unfortunately, the MonkeeMobile was roped off, preventing me from climbing in for even a quick moment of MonkeeMania. I don't care if there is no cup holder for my big fountain Coke or if it only has am radio, I'd still be one cool cat if I was behind the wheel of this baby.
