On the Beat With Geoff Blum

I have had a lot of fun interviewing players over the last couple years. Of course, I am not a trained journalist (although I worked for a newspaper for 17 years and did some writing).
I have to admit though, Geoff Blum came up with a simple answer, but not one that I expected.
I asked Blum where he liked to play as a visiting player. His answer made total sense, but caught me a bit off guard. Perhaps I need to do a little more research before asking any question.
I did bounce back a bit and seemingly surprised Blum by commenting on his brief tenure with the Chicago White Sox. Players generally do not get complimented by reporters.
The versatile Blum had been one of my favorites from his playing days. During his 14 year major league career, Blum saw action at all infield positions and the outfield. He logged in 990 hits for a solid .250 career average.
Blum played for 6 teams, but my favorite time was when he joined my White Sox and had a big home run in their World Series. I also enjoyed the time he spent in Houston, where I saw him a lot while visiting my sister.
Thank you to Blum for his time. Thanks to the Astros organization for their hospitality.
