On my recent trip to Las Vegas, I was happy eating a six inch turkey on hearty Italian bread when the big Subway sandwich mascot walked out of the back room and headed for the exit. The sub mascot was going to pass out coupons on the strip. Before he hit the door, Matt and I stopped him and got our pictures taken with him.
Because I am nothing if I am not detail-oriented, I had to figure out the caloric content of this big sub. Based on my calculations (and that is always a scary proposition), this sub would have approximately 2796 calories. That is based on the sandwich the way I like it (turkey, provolone cheese, pickles, black olives and no condiments).
Ordinarily, a six foot sub mascot would be an odd sight, but on the strip in Vegas, it ranked low on the scale of weirdness (as you will see in future posts).
