On the Beat with Beshemoth of the Windy City Rollers

Today, we feature an interview with Beshemoth, one of the blockers of the Manic Attackers of the Windy City Rollers.  Like Tay Q. Down her derby counterpart from yesterday, we got a little intro to Beshemoth.  Unlike her counterpart, Beshemoth's number is a bit ominous, but there is much more to her than just a number.  Check out the video below to learn a bit about this talented athlete.
Please note, I referred to Beshemoth as an athlete.  The hundred or so woman involved with the Windy City Rollers need to be in pretty good shape to handle the rigors of two thirty minute halves.  There are shift changes, like in hockey, but these women don't get many breathers during their shifts.  It is virtually non-stop hustle.
The Windy City Rollers play legitimate games.  There is an actual scoring system, penalties and standings.  These women want to win!  Despite their colorful names, this is not the same roller derby I used to watch as a kid.
Words really do not do justice to this sport.  I highly encourage everyone to go out and check out flat track roller derby.  In Chicago, the WCR plays at the UIC Pavilion.  For more info, please check out WindyCityRollers.com.
