Happy Birthday Dad!

Today, my dad turns 86.  It's hard to believe he is 86 (and harder to believe I will be turning 53 soon).
You never seem to think life goes by fast until you want it to slow down.  As a kid, you want to hurry into adulthood.  You enjoy that period for a nice stretch, then you start to realize you are getting older and you want life to slow down or even reverse.
My dad will soon be a great-grandfather (thanks to Matt and Erin).  God bless him, he is ahead of most people his age, although he sometimes doesn't see that.  He is active and still sharp.  Sure, his hearing isn't what it used to be, but that's about the only significant loss (and that is also expected anyway).
He is still finding his way after my mom's death.  He fills his time with church activities, workouts, Jeopardy!, the newspaper and sports.  He drives me crazy at times, but I suppose he has earned that right at his age.
Our family will be celebrating his day with him today.  Happy birthday dad!
