Cards That Never were is a recurring series in which I create virtual trading cards for players missed in various sets. It is a concept I have borrowed from too many to list, but I appreciate all of their efforts.
A product of Mississippi State, Mike Patrick signed as a free agent with the New England Patriots prior to the 1975 season. He spent four seasons with the Patriots, punting 225 times in 43 games.
Topps gave Patrick a card in sets from 1977 through '79, but skipped him in the '76 set. Of course, I had to rectify that omission and I found a cool action shot for that purpose.
Unfortunately, Patrick died in 2008. He was a way too young 55.
