Statues Week: William Hudnut in Indianapolis

Statues Week celebrates the beautiful sculptures of famous people or characters.

William Hudnut III was the 54th mayor of Indianapolis from 1976 to 1992. With four terms served, he was the city's longest-serving mayor. statue
In 2013, Mayor Greg Ballard announced the creation of Hudnut Commons in downtown Indy. More than $250,000 was raised in private donations to create the Hudnutt statue. Created by artists Jeff Varilla and Ana Koh Varilla of Koh-Varilla Guild of Chicago, it is owned by the Indianapolis Capital Improvement Board. Although it is life-size, Hudnutt joked that it was bigger than him.
I came across the statue of Hudnut while at a convention in Indy. I thought it was cool because it was built with a bench. (No, I did not sit next to it to start a conversation.)
