Cards That Never Were: Jerry Morales Topps 1972 & '84

Cards That Never Were is a recurring series in which I create virtual trading cards for players missed in various sets. It is a concept I have borrowed from far too many to list, but I appreciate all of their efforts. More of my creations and many great creations of others can be found in the Custom Baseball Cards Facebook group (and not just baseball cards).
Jerry Morales was originally signed by the New York Mets as an amateur free agent at the age of 17 in 1966 and went to the San Diego Padres in the '68 expansion draft. He made his MLB debut in '69. Morales was traded to the Chicago Cubs after the '73 season. After four seasons with the Cubs, he was traded to the St. Louis Cardinals. He spent a season with the Cardinals, followed by one with the Detroit Tigers and one with the New York Mets, before returning to the Cubs for the '81 season. He played three seasons with the Cubs to finish his career. All told, he played in 1,441 games, amassing 1,173 hits for a .259 average with 95 HRs, 570 RBIs and 516 runs scored.
For his efforts, Topps gave Morales a multi-player rookie card in 1970, followed by a solo card in '71. He was skipped in the '72 set. He got cards in all sets '73-83. That left a '72 and an '84 card missing. Lynn, from the aforementioned FB group had already made a '72 card. I made the '84 "career capper" to fill in the other void.
