My podcast partner Tommy Else and I are back with Pinfalls: WWE WrestleMania Backlash 2023. As always, Tommy and I analyze the matches and make our predictions.
Airing Saturday at 7 p.m. CST on the Peacock Network, it will be the 18th Backlash event. It is being held at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico Jose Miguel Agrelot in San Juan, Puerto Rico, making it the first WWE PPV in Puerto Rico since New Year's Revolution in January 2005.
There are seven scheduled matches:
San Juan Street Fight
Bad Bunny vs. Damian Priest
Singles Match
Seth “Freakin” Rollins vs. Omos
WWE Women's Smackdown Championship
Rhea Ripley (c) vs. Zelina Vega
WWE Raw Women's Championship
Bianca Belair (c) vs. Iyo Sky
WWE United States Championship Triple Threat
Austin Theory (c) vs. Bobby Lashley vs. Bronson Reed
Six-Man Tag Team Match
Matt Riddle, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn vs. The Bloodline
Singles Match
Brock Lesnar vs. Cody Rhodes
Tommy and I share our feeling of being underwhelmed by this lineup, but the beauty of wrestling is any match can steal the show and a couple great ones can make this an excellent event.
In our competition, Tommy has regained the lead for the year. Tommy is 17-6, while I trail at 15-8. We both did great on our WrestleMania predictions, which either means we are on a roll or the WWE is too predictable. For Backlash, we do have some differences, although when we agree, our thoughts are amazingly similar. Once again, I state Tommy and I do not discuss this ahead of recording.
