Friend Encounters is a weekly series featuring friends meeting celebrities.
Today I feature an old school wrestler and my bud Tony, wearing an old school wrestling shirt. I can't claim to have facilitated this picture, but I witnessed it and I saw the happiness from both of them.
Wrestler John Nord might be better known as Nord the Barbarian or even the Berzerker from the WWF. Old school fans usually prefer Nord from his days in the American Wrestling Association (as in the AWA from Tony's shirt).
We met Nord at Great Lakes Championship Wrestling's Blizzard Brawl, a great place to meet older and current wrestlers. Nord, who doesn't make a lot of appearances, was very happy engaging with fans. Then there was Tony and his shirt.
Tony is known for getting comments on many of his shirts, but this AWA shirt seems to get the most. Like so many others, Nord loved it.
I always get a kick out of seeing my friends excited about certain celebrities and Tony was definitely happy to meet Nord, but Nord seemed equally as happy to meet two older AWA fans.
