Cards That Never Were: Stan Mikita Topps 1959 & 1980

Cards That Never were is a recurring series in which I create virtual trading cards for players missed in various sets. It is a concept I have borrowed from far to many to list, but I appreciate all of their efforts.

Born in Czechoslovakia, Stan Mikita would go on to have a Hall of Fame career all with the Chicago Blackhawks. Mikita came up for a brief three game stint in the 1958-59 season, but was up for good the next season. For his career, he played 1,394 games, scoring 541 goals, getting 926 assists (totaling 1,467 points). He won the Art Ross trophy four times, the Lady Byng and Hart Memorial trophies twice. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1983.

For his efforts, Stash received cards from 1960-1979. That left a rookie card and a career capper. I had to cheat a bit for his 1959 card. I used a picture from his 1960 card, but that was not uncommon for Topps in those days. I just did it in reverse.
