Rolling with Nicolas Rage and Blink 182

The Windy City Rollers was the first roller derby league I ever attended. I was hooked right from the start.

I admit, I still am a bit foggy on the scoring, but it doesn't interfere with the fun I have every time. I also am not totally convinced it is completely planned. My best guess is it is somewhat planned, but mostly real competition. While still unclear, isn't that part of the fun?

While at Fan Expo earlier this year, I ran into two of the WCR skaters. Nicolas Rage and Blink 1SK82 were representing the league, trying to spread the word. Always happy to see any WCR skaters and to help promote, I bought a short and proudly wear it.

One of the coolest parts of WCR action is the bonds that are created. Not just between skaters, the bonds extend to staffers and fans. After the pandemic, when I first returned to a WCR event, the returning veterans remembered me and greeted me enthusiastically. Let's see that in a pro sports team. LOL.

These woman are very engaging and an-friendly. They are also very athletic and hard-working. They practice several nights a week at times. The result is great action. I have never had a bad or dull night at WCR.

WCR does not have any scheduled events at this moment, but I am certain they will add some soon. Go to WindyCityRollers.com to get all the news and schedules when announced.
