Last and not least in my salute to retiring Athletes Unlimited Softball players is outfielder Haylie McCleney. A big promoter of the game, I am fairly sure McCleney will be around the diamond a bit in the future.
After an outstanding career at Alabama, McCleney played fie seasons with AU. She made several All-Defensive teams, while also being a force on offense. McCleney was a great all-around player.
Off the field, McCleney earned a Master's degree in exercise physiology and is a certified strength and conditioning specialist. She is dedicated to growing the game. (Note to Haylie: you have already done that and I have no doubt you will continue to do so.)
McCleney was a joy on and off the field. I happily own a McCleney tshirt and proudly wore it in support of her. Unfortunately, I failed to get a picture with her while I wore it. Oh well, I got several other pics with her over the years.
I thank Haylie for all she has given to softball. I wish her good luck in her playing retirement.
