Catcher Sashel Palacios is yet another player who retired after last season with Athletes Unlimited. It's another tough loss for the game.
A native of California, Sashel starred at the University of Arizona, before going on to a pro career. She also represented Team Mexico in the Olympics. I first got to know Sashel during her time with the Chicago Bandits, where she continued the legacy of great backstops for the team.
Sashel comes from a sports family. Her father was drafted by two Major League Baseball teams. Her sister Sharlize also plays for Athletes Unlimited. It was cool seeing the catching sisters playing with and agaibst each other last season. I bet it was even cooler for them.
I don't know Sashel's future plans, bt I think we might see her around the park a bit if her sister returns next season. Either way, I thank her for great memories and I wish her great luck in the future.
