The Loyola Ramblers open their 2024-25 season Monday night. I will be "On the Beat" as usual.
Last season, under second-year Coach Allison Guth, the Ramblers finished 15-16, a nine win improvement over the previous season. I predicted a .500 season and I was close.
This season, I think 20 wins is a real possibility. The team lost some players, like guard Sam Galanopoulos, but they have some hungry first year players.
One key returning player is grad student guard Sitori Tanin. Hailing from Wisconsin, Tanin has averaged 8.1 points and 5.6 rebounds per game over her four year career. Those numbers have improved almost every season. Not in the stats category though is her leadership and toughness. She is a gamer. She is an easy pick as a player to watch this season.
I have interviewed Tanin a couple times. The most recent one focused on tshirts her and her fiance Parker Van Buren are selling to raise money and awareness for Crohn's disease, a condition he brother has. They are great young people, working for a good cause.
To watch those interviews, go to On the Beat With Sitori Tanin. Also, go to loyolaramblers.com for more info on the team.
