Celebrity Jersey Cards is a weekly series featuring celebrities wearing sports jerseys. Today, I am still making my way alphabetically through Major League Baseball.
A native of Ohion, Kayla Harrison is a professional mixed martial artist. As of June, she was ranked #3 in the UFC women's pound-for-pound rankings. She also won gold medals in two Olympics and more in World Championships, Pan American Games and elsewhere. Although she earned her Celebrity Jersey Card with a ceremonial pitch, methinks she might have been better as a Designated Hitter (sorry).
Born in Germany, Kathrine Switzer is a Marathon runner, author and broadcaster. In 1967, she became the first officially registered woman competitor in the Boston Marathon. Despite an attack by race Manager Jock Semple, she was able to complete the Marathon, but women were banned from competing against men until 1972, when the Boston Marathon established a woman's division. In later years, Semple and Switzer mended the rift and became friends. A true Boston icon, Switzer was honored by the Red Sox and now by me with a Celebrity Jersey Card.
