Cards That Never Were: Mike Grace Topps 1979

Cards That Never Were is a recurring series in which I create virtual trading cards for players missed in various sets over the years. It is a concept I have borrowed from far too many to list, but I appreciate all of their efforts.

Mike Grace was selected by the Cincinnati Reds in the second round of the 1974 amateur draft. He made his MLB debut in 1978 appearing in five games, but going hitless in three plate appearances. He returned to play in the minors through the 1983 season. With Pete Rose at third and Ray Knight waiting in the minors, Grace was blocked.

Despite his short MLB career, he still deserves a card. Once again, as I prepared to make one, I saw Jeff from the Custom Baseball Cards Facebook group beat me to it. Not neding to try to duplicate his fine work, I highlight his creation and encourage all fans to check out the Custom Baseball Cards group on Facebook. It has thousands of creations and not just baseball despite the name.
