While on a trip to a University of Wisconsin softball game, looking for statues was one of my goals. Of course, the Barry Alvarez statue was tops on that list.
Alvarez was the head football coach from 1990 to 2005, compiling a career record of 119–72–4. He has the longest head coaching tenure and the most wins in the school's football history. He won three Big Ten Championships.
When we found his statue, it was behond a gated fence. Fortunately, ever-crafty, we found an opening which allowed us to get a good picture with the statue.
