On the Beat with Onrie Kompan at C2E2 2014

Perhaps it was JohngysBeat.com's Contributor Extraordinaire Matt Parker's recent trip to the Far East that subconsciously lead him to Onrie Kompan's booth at C2E2 2014.  No matter the reason, we are happy we came across Kompan.
Kompan is the author and creator of the Yi Soon Shin: Warrior and Defender series.  That sounds like the title of any warrior-based comic.  What really makes this one different is that it is based on a true story.
Admiral Yi Soon Shin was a Korean naval commander who saved his countrymen from Japanese invasion during the Imjin War (1592-1598).  The ruthless, remorseless Japanese raped, enslaved and killed.  One man who stood against them and could not be defeated was Yi Soon Shin.
This isn't typical comic fare, but it is definitely entertaining, as well as being educational.  The artwork is incredible, too.  This whole series is so well done.  I am happy and proud to spread the word on Yi Soon Shin.
After you watch Matt's interview with Kompan, be sure to check out the Yi Soon Shin Facebook page to learn more about it and to get important updates.
