When covering a comic con, I always see if any of my favorites are there. I don't go to these people because they are easy to get. I go to these people because I truly like their work and find them interesting. There are hundreds of creators in Artist Alley, but I will always see out my favorites first.
Dirk Manning is one of my favorites. Aside from being incredibly talented and personable, he also likes wrestling. This can take our interviews into many directions.
Last year, I interviewed Manning at C2E2 2014 and he made three WWE predictions. That interview can be found at On the Beat with Dirk Manning at C2E2 2014.
This year, we started the interview with a bit of wrestling. Manning predicted (or maybe hoped) for a specific opponent for Sting. We'll see if that prediction comes true.
Onto more important stuff, Manning was promoting his "Tales of Mr. Rhee" series. It is filled with fantastic illustrations and riveting stories. It's the kind of book you hate to see come to an end. Thankfully, it is a series and hopefully, there will be many more to come.Manning also promoted "Then It Was Dark," described on its Kickstarter page as "a collection of paranormal experiences, true ghost stories, friend-of-friend tales and brushes with the unknown." Manning had some interesting things to say about the book and his experiences.
Of course, he also was promoting "Write or Wrong." This is a collection of his "Write or Wrong" columns, where he gives advice to comic writers and creators in general.
Manning has a lot on his plate and some cool stuff coming up. I will continue to follow his career and update it right here. You can also go to DirkManning.com for more info and updates.
