On the Beat with Monica Abbott of the Chicago Bandits 2015

Today, the Johngy's Beat and Justin's World of Softball joint coverage of the 2015 Chicago Bandits features pitcher Monica Abbott.  In a Johngy's Beat first, we interviewed Monica on her birthday.
The star pitcher just turned 30 on July 28.  Monica is one of the best pitchers of all time.  She truly is elite, but you would never know it by her humble actions.  Monica is just part of the team.
In the NPF, Monica had three excellent years with three teams, but she really emerged as a superstar when she joined the Bandits in 2011.  She has gone 62-17 since then.  Her list of other accomplishments is too lengthy to report here.  You can find out more about Monica on ChicagoBandits.com or MonicaAbbott.com.  Be prepared to spend some time and to be impressed.
Just a few days prior to this interview, Monica added another line on her resume.  She pitched her second NPF perfect game.  Then, a few days after that (and the day prior to this interview), Monica pitched nine innings for the win.  Finally, just Monday, Monica pitched a no-hitter!
She has also established The Monica Abbott Scholarship.  Typical Monica, she was almost apologetic that the fund is just starting and isn't super big.  I give her all of the credit in the world for helping others, for giving back, for sharing.
Monica is special on and ff the field and it has been a pleasure to see her pitch and to get to know her a bit.  I appreciate her time and consideration, as well.  Monica gets a lot of media requests and I am honored that she gave us a few minutes of her time, especially on her birthday!
After you watch the video, head to ChicagoBandits.com for more info and updates.  Then, be sure to check out the Bandits in person, on television or on YouTube.  Get to a game before the season ends!
