Today's "Friendly Encounters" is another special one for many reasons. Seeing youngsters meet celebrities is always interesting and fun. I witnessed this particular picture and I saw the happiness in the eyes of Paris and Dominique. The sisters have met many celebrities in their young lives and they usually balance the joy with a calmness (which comes from meeting so many celebrities). These aren't just your average kids, though.
These young girls are the children of Jacques and Haley Baron, co-owners of Resistance Pro wrestling. As a family run business, RPro really embraces the family aspect. The Baron girls are usually at RPro events. They have met a ton of wrestlers, many of whom sleep at the Baron's house on show weekend.
The Baron girls also accompany their father as he has a booth of movie memorabilia at many comic cons. This is where we all meet many non-wrestling celebrities.
The Baron girls got a special thrill when meeting Elvira. For her part, Elvira (Cassandra Peterson) was great with the girls and all of her fans. Being as I had a prior mildly unpleasant experience with Peterson, I was happy to see this (along with my own good experience with her). This restored my faith in Peterson.
As much as me mending my mental fence with Peterson was important, it really is more about the happiness of kids. Kids are innocent and full of hope. I guess I have reached a level of unexpected maturity, when I get real joy from seeing others getting joy from the celeb as more important than me meeting that celeb.
