On the Beat with Matt Fraser of the Rockford IceHogs: 03/08/16

Last Tuesday, Matt Fraser played his first game with the Rockford IceHogs and scored his first goal.  Fraser was recently acquired from the Winnipeg Jets with Jay Harrison and Andrew Ladd for Marko Dano, the 1st round pick in the 2016 draft and a conditional pick in the 2018 draft.
He made his NHL debut in the 2011-12 season with the Dallas Stars, for whom he played parts of two seasons.  He also played for two seasons with the Boston Bruins and part of one season with the Edmonton Oilers.  This season, he had been playing for the Manitoba Moose, before joining the IceHogs.  The young left winger has put up solid numbers in the WHL and AHL, but has yet to find solid footing in the NHL.
Scoring once and assisting on another goal was a great way to start his career with the IceHogs.  He talked about the trade and his new team in the post-game media session, after he was named the number two star (behind Pierre-Cedric Labrie) for the 5-2 victory over the Admirals.
We will return to the IceHogs arena tonight and continue our recurring coverage right here.  Also, be sure to check out IceHogs.com for all the news, info, scheduling and more.
