On the Beat With Coach Ted Dent of the Rockford IceHogs-04/16/16

Johngy's Beat was back in Rockford for their regular season finale.  A sold out crowd of over 6400 saw the IceHogs thump the Milwaukee Admirals 7-1.
The IceHogs jumped out fast and furiously, scoring three goals in the first period.  The game was never in doubt.  A loan goal by the Admirals in the third period ended the shutout, but was otherwise meaningless.
The IceHogs finished the season 40-22-10-4 good for 3rd place in the Central Division of the Western Conference of the AHL.  They finished 3 points behind the second place Lake Erie Monsters and 7 points behind the first place Admirals.  They will start their playoffs against the Monsters on Wednesday, April 20.
The IceHogs averaged over 5,000 fans per game for the first time in their history.  That is a credit to the organization and the fans.  I'he success of the Blackhawks probably adds to the allure of the IceHogs.  I'm also going to claim the Johngy's Beat coverage has added a few fans along the way.  (Since I am wiriting this, I get to say that.)
Coach Ted Dent recently signed a three year extension to remain coaching the IceHogs.  Dent has done a great job with the IceHogs.  Being the Blackhawks affiliate has benefits, but it also has hardships as the parent club is always retuning to better their chances at a Stanley Cup run.  Every move they make affects the IceHogs, but Dent handles it all well and the IceHogs keep rolling.
After the game, Dent talked about the game, the playoffs, his rookies and more.  For more info on the IceHogs, check out IceHogs.com and continue to follow us here as we continue to follow the IceHogs!
