While my main NCAA women's basketball teams to cover are the Loyola Ramblers and the DePaul Blue Demons, I occasionally covered the Northwestern Wildcats when my schedule permitted. Unfortunately, I didn't see a win last season, but I saw some exciting basketball in a great venue.
One player I met was sophomore guard Caleigh Walsh. From Sparta, New Jersey, in high school, Caleigh was ranked number 4 at her position by ESPN. In her first season at Northwestern, Caleigh played 28 games, starting 16, averaging 3.6 rebounds and 7.4 points per game. Last season her numbers were up across the board.
The season starts in a few weeks. Again, I won't be at many NU games, but I will be there on occasion and I will be following the Cats and reporting here on occasion.
