Celebrity Jersey Cards is a weekly series in which I create virtual trading cards for celebrities wearing jerseys. Today, I start a season-long march alphabetically through all MLB teams.
Born in Mississippi, Ray Mabus grew up to have a successful political career. He has been U.S. Secretary of the Navy, U.S. Ambassador to Saudi Arabia and Governor of Mississippi to name a few office he has held. He also dabbled in acting, making appearances in a few television shows. Mabus tossed a ceremonial pitch for the Washington Nationals to earn his Celebrity Jersey Card. He also gets the throwback treatment, because the Nats were the Expos at the time of this card.
A native of Joliette, Quebec, Canada, Denis Coderre also went on to a lengthy political career. He was Mayor of Montreal, President of the Queen's Privy Council for Canada and a Member of Parliament for Bourassa, among other positions. Coderre struck a classic batter pose in the dugout sporting both a jersey and cap of the Montreal Expos. I wish he would have moved a foot to his right to be in front of the MLB logo. Either way, Coderre's Celebrity Jersey Card is the first to feature the cool Expos uni.
