My latest interview guest on Talking Travel is Hall of Fame musician Dave Mason. A founding member of Traffic, Mason has had a legendary career and he talked about that and his upcoming book release.
When I saw Mason had finished his book, Only You Know and I Know, I contacted his representatives requesting an interview. It isn't often I get to talk to a HOF musician. When they responded positively, I anxiously awaited the interview.
Mason's biggest hit was "We Just Disagree," which reached number 12 on Billboard's chart in 1973. His career extends well beyond that song though. He has played with musical icons including Jimi Hendrix, the Rolling Stones, Fleetwood Mac and countless others. I could fill a page with everyone on his collaborations list. Now in his 70s, Mason is still delighting audiences.
Another thing sure to make all music fans happy is his autobiography. I was fortunate enough to be given an advance copy and it is incredible. While Mason humbly downplays his accomplishments, reading them in this book is mind-blowing. I was very impressed with his openness and honesty. He covers some rough patches in his life, but he puts it all out there. Again, Mason shrugs it off as just part of his story, when I called it courageous to do such a thing.
