Debuting in 1991, Ozzie T. Cougar is the mascot of the Kane County Cougars minor league baseball team. In addition to his work with the Cougars, Ozzie is busy in the community. Among his many projects is the Ozzie Reading Club, which helps thousands of Chicago area students through participation.
In 2016, Ozzie received a bit of a makeover. The new look featured bushy, focused eye brows, big, bright green eyes and a few teeth showing in his mouth. Ozzie looked like someone you wouldn't want on your bad side. The transformation coincided with the Cougars unveiling a new logo, new uniforms and a new branding.
I met Ozzie a couple times, with the most recent being when he joined other mascots to celebrate the birthday of DePaul's mascot DIBS at Wintrust Arena. Of course, I got pictures with all of the mascots.
