Talking Travel with Monica Abbott

Monica Abbott is one of the best softball pitchers of all time. A multi-time Olympian and other world competitions and a longtime pro here and abroad, Abbott's records and accolades run many lines deep.

When I heard Monica was publishing a coloring book, I used it as the opportunity to ask for a Talking Travel interview. Monica graciously accepted.

Monica's coloring book doubles as an activities book. The story within is about a young softball player learning the game and teamwork. Having been just released, I have not seen it yet, but if Monica is involved, I have no doubt it is great. Monica would demand nothing les.

You might ask what a kids' coloring book has to do with world travel. The fact is I would have done the interview either way. Monica's world travels more than make her a solid travel interview guest. Promoting the book was just more incentive for her to do the interview.

Beyond all that though, coloring books are making a comeback. In this age of technology, many folks are using coloring books to entertain and engage their kids on flights. Many parents use them as relaxation methods, although those would be different types of coloring books (a bit more challenging).

The interview could not have gone better. Monica gave a fascinating look into life in Japan, where she lived for 14 seasons of playing there.

Go to Talking Travel with Monica Abbott on Global Traveler to hear the interview. Also, subscribe to the GT YouTube channel. I need more subscribers there. All it takes is a Gmail account. It's free and you won't be bothered with emails etc.
