Hilary Barta at C2E2 2020

Hilary Barta's first comics work came in June 1982, when he helped Marvel inkers Al Milgrom, Joe Sinnott and Sal Trapani on The Defenders #108. He has been working steadily since then and is one of the best and most popular comic book artists and writers.
Barta (aka Surly Hack) is probably best known for humor and parody comics such as What The--?!, Plastic Man and Stupid. He is also the co-creator of Splash Brannigan with Alan Moore at America's Best Comics. Barta has also done work on SpongeBob Comics and Bart Simpson’s Treehouse of Horror.
In addition to everything else he is doing, Barta (or Surly Hack) is the creative force behind LimerWrecks, a website filled with funny rhymes about films. It really is highly entertaining.
Pep Talk is a project Barta started almost by accident. He drew the panels and invited his SpongeBob editor Chris Duffy to supply the text, which is the reverse of the usual process. Duffy returned two versions. Barta liked both so much he decided to do the same with more creative friends and Pep Talk was born. I love the concept and the product.
Barta is scheduled to return to Marvel Comics with a story in the Alex Ross curated Marvel anthology. He will reunite with creative partner Doug Rice on this project. Marvel fans and comic collectors are really looking forward to this collaboration.
You can go to HilaryBarta.com to learn more about him and follow him at @HilaryBarta on twitter. For more fun and to help support his work, check out his Patreon page, where he shows the process of his illustrations. It really is fascinating.
Also, go to C2E2.com for updates and news on the 2021 show. C2E2 is scheduled for December 2021. Hopefully by then, we can all enjoy some comic con fun.
