Ant Lucia at C2E2 2023

C2E2 2024 returns April 26-28. I meet a lot of great celebrities at C2E2, but I also meet awesome creators, like Ant Lucia.

Ant went to school for fine arts and design. After doing small jobs, he started an internship at a state revitalization program. Then he landed a job in design. Around 2008, he developed Spookshow Pinups, his own brand of illustration. He creates all illustrations in Adobe Illustrator.

His love of vintage pin-ups is evident in his work. Some of his works that I liked best are when he combines pin-ups with pop culture items, like Count Chocula cereal. He has also done some superhero crossovers, like Batwoman, but I sadly do not see anything with Aquaman in it. That'd be a great pairing (but maybe my Aquaman bias shows again).

Ant is also engaging at comic cons. He's a great guy for a quick chat. I never want to take too much of his time, because time is money at those cons.

Go to C2E2.com for more info and scheduling. Also, go to AntLucia.com to learn more about Ant. Check back here for my coverage.

Ant Lucia at C2E2 2019

Ant Lucia is a designer and illustrator. He has done work for the DC Collectibles "Bombshells" line, cover art for Aquaman, Superman, Batgirl and more, as well as many more projects. His work with DC Bombshells has become so popular, it has inspired a line of statues, lithographs, action figures, Funko POP figures and other licensed products.
Although I am not a huge fan of the Star Wars franchise, Ant's artwork featuring Star Wars character is one of my favorites. I'd like to see Lucia do this with other shows and movies. It would also lend itself well to the WWE universe.
I have met Lucia many times, including 2019 at C2E2. The next C2E2 has been postponed until December 2021, but by then, I hope we can all enjoy some pop culture insanity. Hopefully, I will see Lucia and all of my other favorites there.

Ant Lucia at C2E2 2016

Professional illustrator Ant Lucia states that he has been a major DC fan all his life.  He also says that he gets his inspiration from the vintage pinup posters.  He creates all of his illustrations in Adobe Illustrator.
Those are the beasic facts, but you can find that info and more on his website.  You can also see some of his awesome work there, too.  None of that conveys just how cool his work is though.
His colorful creations jump out at you as you approach his booth.  Monsters, super heroes and pinup girls alternate on his promo wall.  My favorites are his Spookshow series, based on classic movie monsters and their lovely female co-stars.
His latest project has been the Bombshell series.  It is cool to see his take on these female comic characters.  I can't expect to see Aquaman in this series, but I can hope to see Lucia do something with Aquagirl.  More specificially, I'd like to see him do the old school Aquagirl.
