Chanel Ryan at Motor City Comic Con 2013

Motor City Comic Con, May 17-19 is one week awy. I can't wait for the weekend of fun, but for now I recall some of my favorite moments over my many years of covering MCCC.
It's hard to believe, but model and actress Chanel Ryan has been entertaining audiences for almost 30 years. She is beautiful and talented. Her "Benchwarmer Trading Card" was one of the most popular cards in the series and she has been named "Sexiest ..." by many sources. Not just a pretty face, she has acted steadily since 1989.
Chanel was very pleasant when I approached her for an interview. Unfortunately, I was still a little inexperienced and my interview wasn't exactly fascinating. Still, I am happy to have landed Chanel on one. That interview can be found at On the Beat With Chanel Ryan.
Chanel was easily one of the most popular guests at that MCCC. A career as a model, coupled with some key roles in popular movies will create that type of interest. I really appreciated her taking time away from her fans for our interview.
A vegetarian since her teens, Chanel is very dedicated to world causes. A portion of the proceeds from her convention appearances goes to animal funds.
Go to MotorCityComicCon.com for all of the info, including the celebrity guest list and scheduling. You can also find Motor City Comic Con on Facebook and other social media platforms.

On the Beat with Chanel Ryan at Motor City Comic Con 2013

I first met Chanel Ryan at a Hollywood Celebrities Show in Rosemont (IL) several years ago.  I had not heard of her at the time, but she really stood out.  Those shows usually have somewhat older stars.  Being a young, beautiful woman really made her stand out.
Chanel is a model, actress, producer and more.  She is one of the most popular women ever to appear in the Benchwarmer Cards series.  She appeared on the cover of Garth Brook's Album "The Life of Chris Gaines."  She has also appeared regularly on various "Top Sexy..." lists.
Honestly, Chanel looks as stunning as she did when I saw her several years back.  I did not talk to her much at that point, but this time I got a short interview.  She is as nice as she is beautiful.
One of her latest projects, Scream Queen Campfire is in pre-production (which stars several of our favorite scream queens).  This is definitely one I want to see.
Several years after meeting Chanel for the first time, I interviewed her.  My how time flies.  Yet, Chanel stood out just like she did back then.  More importantly though, Chanel was just as nice.  She is a great convention guest.
After you watch our interview, check out ChanelRyan.com to learn all about her.  You can also "like" Chanel on Facebook and follow Chanel on twitter.

Friendly Encounters:Jack Odanovich Meets Chanel Ryan

This is a weekly series about fiends who have met celebs.

As I return from the Motor City Comic Con, there is nobody better to have on Friendly Encounters than Jack Odanovich.  I originally met Jack several years ago while researching MCCC for Global Traveler.  Jack has been very helpful in sharing pictures and stories about the MCCC and a couple other conventions.  I appreciate his help.
Jack is a great guy and a wonderful photographer, as proven by the many beautiful pictures on the Jack Odanovich Photography Facebook page.I enjoy looking at the awesome images and the fun times he captures.
Of course, I can't mention Jack, without mentioning his father, Craig, who is a relatively new, but rising author.  I have read and honestly greatly enjoyed all of Craig's books.  Friend or not, Craig's The Black Widow Trainer series is fresh, fun and intriguing!
Once again, Jack shared one of his pictures from a previous MCCC.  Donned in his usual Star Wars gear, Jack gets a lot of good attention.  Even the celebs like his attire.

Who Is Chanel Ryan?

Chanel Ryan is a model, actress, cover girl and host. Ryan is seen everywhere, but most people couldn't tell you her name.
I met Ryan at a Hollywood Collectors Show years ago. One guy actually asked her why he should know who she was...what has she done. I am not here to debate Ryan's level of success, but to go up to a celebrity and ask those questions is just rude.
Was he deciding if she was worth the price for a signed photo? Was he trying to be a jerk? Was he trying to show her up?
She handled it with class by listing a few of her accomplishments and saying that he might want to find someone else more famous if that was his goal. The guy walked off and started talking to the next celeb (no doubt annoying him, too).
I have seen Ryan at several conventions since then. I still can't tell you much of her work, but I can tell you she is pretty popular at conventions and not just with men.
I have previously mentioned a few celebs who were not particularly nice or outgoing at these conventions, but I have seen far more rude fans than rude stars. Sometimes fans think their $20 entitles them to whatever they feel like saying or doing.
