On The Beat with Texas Charge Asst. Coach Roman Foore 2017

The reigning back-to-back National Pro Fastpitch champion Chicago Bandits are off to a great start and we are very happy to be covering them for our fourth season.  Today, our coverage finds Texas Charge Assistant Coach Roman Foore, formerly of the Bandits.
It's always strange seeing familiar faces returning with different teams.  Such was the case when I saw Coach Roman sporting the blue and green of the Charge.
Coach Roman was a steady force and a big part of the success of the Bandits during his time here.  He was also great to me whenever I needed interviews or just for general chat.  He was a good sport, even when I talked about serious topics, like the mustache luck or the Minnesota Twins GM job.  Coach Roman rolled with it, no matter what the topic was.  I appreciate all of it.
The Bandits underwent a huge change in the offseason and Coach Roman found a new home with the Charge.  While I hated to see him go, perhaps it worked out right for him, as he is now coaching with his wife, as you will hear in the interview below.
In addition to discussing the latest addition to the Charge coaching staff, Coach Roman talked about returning to coach against the Bandits, winning titles, and more.  Of course, I also asked him about the GM job with the Texas Rangers.
Thank you to Coach Roman for his time and consideration this weekend and over the last few seasons.  Good luck in Texas, as well.  Thank you to the Chicago Bandits for their continued hospitality.  For more info on the Bandits, check out ChicagoBandits.com.

Thank You Roman Foore

Although I did not see an official NPF or team announcement, Roman Foore mentioned on Facebook that he is leaving the Chicago bandits organization.  This is another tough loss for the team and the fans.
Roman has an extensive and successful softball background.  In addition to his stint with the Bandits, he has played for the United States Men’s National Fastpitch Team.  He has coached at Appalachian State and the University of St. Thomas, as well as Eagan (MN) High School and independent fastpitch teams.  After the 2016 NPF season, he joined Arizona State University as an Assistant Coach.
Roman was a vital cog in the championship runs of the Bandits.  I saw him work tirelessly with the players and his efforts certainly paid off.  He was respected by the organiztion, the fans and me.
He always gave great interviews, even when I occasionally delved into more light-hearted topics, like the Mustache Club or my push to have him named as the GM the Minnesota Twins.  Roman went along with it and gave me great answers.
It was a pleasure knowing Roman and seeing him around the ballpark.  I wish him nothing but luck and I will be following the ASU Sun Devils because of him.  Thank you Roman.  You will be missed.

On the Beat With Coach Roman Foore of the Chicago Bandits 2016

Today, on the Chicago Bandits beat, the Johngy's Beat spotlight shines on Coach Roman Foore.  In his third season with the Bandits, Coach Roman seems as happy and dedicated as ever.
Roman has a long resume of coaching and playing.  Aside from coaching the Bandits, he has also coached on the collegiate level.  His experience serves the Bandits well.
This time, we took our interview outside.  We talked to Roman about the current status of the mustache.  Along with Manager Mike Steuerwald, Coach Roman's mustache is in the hands of the Bandits players, so to speak, but I'll let him explain it.
I also asked him about coaching women.  To those unfamiliar with the Bandits, coaching "girls" somehow seems less important than coaching me.  Once people come out to the ballpark and see the level of play, that opinion alwatys changes, even from the most diehard male sports fans.  Still, I wanted to hear Coach Roman's take on it and I could not agree more.
I also asked him about the rumor of him pursuing the vacant General Manager position with the Minnesota Twins (his home area team).  (Okay, it is a rumor started by JohngysBeat.com, but Coach Roman obliged me nonetheless).  I do appreciate him just rolling with it (and I think we both might have been only half-kidding).
He also talked about the challenges and rewards of this season.  It is clear that he enjoys what he does.  We're just happy to have him here!

On the Beat with Chicago Bandits Coach Roman Foore 2015

Today, the Johngy's Beat and Justin's World of Softball joint coverage of the 2015 Chicago Bandits features Coach Roman Foore.  The second year Assistant coach serves as Coach Stu's right hand man.
Coach Foore clearly has a passion for what he does, whether it is coaching the Bandits or coaching at Bethel University.  He is also a longtime fastpitch player.  He is also on the United States Men's National Fastpitch Team
Coach Foore can be seen hitting fungos well before game time.  He is dedicated to helping the Bandits players improve every aspect of their game.
In the interview below, Coach Foore talks about the Bandits season and how the team gelled together.  We talked about other fun stuff, including him working for his wife at Bethel.
It has been a pleasure working with Coach Foore the last two seasons.  He is always available and willing to talk to us.  I appreciate his time and consideration all season and hope to work with him again in 2016.

On the Beat with Chicago Bandits Assistant Coach Roman Foore

The Johngy's Beat-Justin's World joint coverage of the Chicago Bandits continues today here with an interview with Assistant Coach Roman Foore.  Last Friday, over on Justin's World of Softball at Bandits Interviews: Parts 3-5, he featured my interviews with Foore, Emily Allard and Sara Moulton.
Assistant Coach Foore has an extensive and successful softball background, including playing and coaching at high levels.  He has played for the United States Men’s National Fastpitch Team.  He has coached at Appalachian State and the University of St. Thomas, as well as Eagan (MN) High School and independent fastpitch teams.  He is a valuable member of the Bandits organization.
Coach Foore was very approachable even before the interview.  After talking to him, I can tell he enjoys what he does, including still being active on the fastpitch softball scene.
I wish I could make it to more games to talk more at length with Coach Foore.  For now, I will be happy with this season being a great start into more coverage in the future.  My interview with Coach Foore can be found at Roman Foore Interview.
To learn more about Foore and the Bandits, go to ChicagoBandits.com and then go to a Bandits game.  The Bandits are a great organization and the games are a lot of fun.
