Yesterday, I talked about talking to Jim Martin, who played a major part in my childhood television entertainment. Today, I am featuring another legend from children's television, David Newell (aka Mr. McFeely), who happened to be sharing a booth with Martin at C2E2 as they promoted the Toonseum of Pittsburgh.
Newell had a lengthy line every day of the convention, but he made sure everyone walked away happy. Just like with Martin, I figured Newell's lengthy line would prohibit an interview. I am happy to admit I was wrong again.
Newell graciously gave us some of his time, despite being incredibly busy. He talked about the Toonseum, PBS, Mr. Rogers and Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood, a new series debuting later this year.
After watching the interview (and make sure you watch to the very end...there is a surprise there), to learn more about David Newell, go to PBSKids.org and FredRogers.org. To learn more about Pittsburgh's Toonseum, go to Toonseum.org and follow the Toonseum on twitter.
It was a thrill talking to this television icon and he could not have been any nicer. It was an unexpected interview, but one that I will cherish.
