The Rockford IceHogs Beat

The Rockford IceHogs are coming off of a tough road trip.  They won one, lost 2 and lost another in overtime.  The good news is that they are still in first place with a five point lead over the second place Chicago Wolves.
The IceHogs come back the day after Christmas with a game against the last place Iowa Wild, followed by a game on Sunday against the Wolves.  They should handle th Wild, which then sets up a pretty big game against the Wolves.
It appears it will be a two team race between the Wolves and the IceHogs all season.  Only nine points separate first from last in their five team division, but I don't see the bottom three teams really challenging.
JayHawk Evans will be rejoining the Beat this Sunday for the game.  This will be very interesting because JayHawk is a big fan of the Wolves.  In all honesty, I love the Wolves, too.  I just happen to cheer more for the IceHogs now because I am covering them and because they play great hockey.  Also, it is like looking at the future of the Blackhawks.
This should be a great game.  In the same amount of games, the IceHogs have given up one less goal, while scoring the same as the Wolves.  Unfortunately, the IceHogs have had 31 more penalty minutes, but that's only about 1.25 more per game.  Still, I am sure Coach Ted Dent will be on his Hogs to limit their penalties.
We hope to get some good interviews.  We also hope to get a win!
