Alex Booker was one of the first Chicago Bandits I ever met or interviewed. Because she was so nice, articulate and outgoing, she made the interview very easy for me. I will always have a special place in my mind for Alex.
After graduating from the University of Illinois, where she played softball, Alex joined the Bandits. She described that as a dream. It was a dream for the fans, too. Alex was one of the most popular players on the team, because of her attitude and her way with the fans, especially the young ones.
Alex started her coaching career as an assistant at Texas A&M, but most recently, she is an assistant at Arkansas Tech University. She also has been running instructional camps and clinics and giving private lessons.
Earlier this week, she conducted the first of the Alex Booker Winter Mini-Clinics in Gurnee, IL. Her next clinic will be December 9, followed by 12/16, 12/23 and 12/30. Each hour long session starts at 5 p.m. or 6 p.m.
These are a great opportunity for young girl softball players who want to learn from an enthusiastic pro player/coach. I have seen Alex with youngsters and she is fantastic.
