The Karate Kid came out over 30 years ago, but Ralph Macchio is still in demand by fans because of that film. Obviously, Macchio has done plenty of other acting, but his role as Daniel LaRusso holds a special place in the hearts of many.
Macchio's first big role was on tv's Eight Is Enough as Jeremy, the youngster brought in to the Bradford household. Unlike a lot of late additions of kids, Jeremy's character was pretty well-received. That role alone could earn him a spot at the various comic cons. Sitcom stars of those years are high in demand.
While we were waiting for Macchio, Cuzz and I saw a promo photo for The Outsiders, another early movie of Macchio's. The picture featured Macchio, C. Thomas Howell, Tom Cruise, Emilio Estevez, Patrick Swayze, Rob Lowe and Matt Dillon. That is a virtual Hall of Fame collection. Imagine getting that picture signed by all.
The best part about Macchio is that he is as nice as could be. I have met him many times and he is always great to the public and press. Macchio is one child star success story!
