My Aquaman fandom is legendary, but today I am straying to another Superhero. I hope other Aquafans forgive me.
At Motor City Comic Con, Dean Cain was one of the "must see" celebs for me. Cain has lead a dream life. He was a football star at Princeton and signed as a free agent with the Buffalo Bills. A knee injurt derailed his NFL dreams, but his acting career took off and he never looked back.
He rose to stardom as Superman on tv's Lois and Clark. Not only did he get to play one of the greatest Superheroes of all time, he acted opposite of Teri Hatcher. It doesn't get much better than that.
Even past 50 now, Cain looks great. More importantly, he seems to be a good guy. He was fantastic with all of his fans (male and female). He got a lot of hug requests from the ladies and he obliged every one of them.
One interesting thing on his table was a picture of him from training camp with the Bills. I almost went for that item. It is unusual for a celeb to have something that obscure. (If it was color, I would have gotten it and then made a Celebrity Jersey Card for Cain). In any case, it was neat to see.
I will always rank Aquaman as number one, but in this case, Cain/Superman was pretty good. I only wonder how things would have turned out if he had played Aquaman at some point.
Cuzz Gekas, Dean Cain and me in Novi, MI-May 2015.
