Thirty-Five Years of Grant Mulvey

Grant Mulvey was one of the first players I watched from his first season.  In 1974, a young clean-cut Mulvey made his debut for the Chicago Blackhawks.  He played 8+ seaons with the Hawks, before finishing his career with a dozen games with the New Jersey Devils.  By then, Mulvey had a long, flowing mane of curly locks and a big mustache.
Mulvey went on to play a big role in the early days of the Chicago Wolves.  Mulvey is still in the Chicago area and very active in charity work, as well as with Blackhawks alumni stuff.
I had the pleasure of meeting Mulvey at a Blackhawks game a few years back.  He reminded me of Barry Bostwick.
At first, we just met him and got a photo with him.  When he was done, though, he came over to us.  We had taken a spot in the concourse to watch the game on the big screens while laughing about the old days.  Mulvey came over and joined us for a while.  Watching the Blackhawks with Grant Mulvey was one of the most surreal moments I have ever experienced.  Thirty-five years before, I was watching him playing with the Hawks on television.  Life is funny.
Grant Mulvey and me in Chicago, IL-March 2012.
