Today our continual coverage of the National Pro Fastpitch Chicago Bandits brings us to rookie infielder Allie Bauch. Allie is a rookie who joined the Bandits after an open tryout.
A Chicago area native, Allie starred at the University of Illinois, where she started 202 of 207 games. Along with her durabilty, she put up excellent offensive numbers, culminating in her senior year when she earned All-Big Ten First Team honors in 2015.
So far, Allie has made her mark on the team by scoring 9 runs in limited playing time. While speed has been her biggest asset thus far, her career stats at Illinois suggest she will make a more complete impact as her career progresses.
I talked to Allie about the open tryouts, playing in front of family and friends in her home area, skydiving, being an eleven pound baby and more. We even joked about iFLY Chicago, the local indoor skydiving center.
