I met Kurt Dinse years ago at Days of the Dead. In a convention full of all things horror, Dinse's work somehow managed to stand out.
Dinse describes himself as an illustrator, artist and slightly impaired. His website states that he likes "drawing pictures and telling stories of the weird, stupid, and sometimes uncomfortable world that he sees."
He creates art featuring ghouls, zombies, the undead and other twisted stuff. Some of it is his take on pop culture icons, while some of it is just his own warped illustrations. His take on the logo of the Blackhawks is what originally caught my attention.
Horror and sports usually do not mix. I don't see many horror artists incorporating sports themes in their work. Along with the Hawks, Dinse also covered the other Chicago teams (although I don't see one for my beloved Chicago Bandits).
Dinse is a talented guy and a really cool guy, too. He's very popular and active on the comic con scene, as well as active on social media and his website. He's always got fun things to show and say. I always make ure to stop by his booth at cons and to stop on his site while websurfing.
Check PungentBasementArt.com for more info on Dinse. You can also follow Pungent Basement Art on Facebook and at Pungent Basement on twitter.
