Levi Hastings at C2E2 2017

Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo (C2E2) returns December 10-12 at McCormick Place and I can't wait. I'll be back "On the Beat" meeting celebrities and creators, like Levi Hastings.
Based in Seattle, WA, Hastings is an illustrator, cartoonist and visual artist. His passion for natural science, travel, history and Queer culture is obvious in his work.
He has worked for HBO, Absolut, Buzzfeed, The Washington Post, The Nib, The Stranger and more. He has written several children's books, including The Spirit of Springer and Mayor Pete.He has also been working on a graphic novel.
Fortunately, Hastings occasionally finds time to participate in comic cons, one of which was C2E2 a few years ago. That's the beauty of these conventions. As beautiful as the work of Hastings is, I might not have come across it if I didn't see it on display at C2E2.
I was intrigued by seeing his beautiful art next to his children's book. It's not completely unique to have an illustrator do children's books, but it can create interesting visuals when they are adjacent at a creator's booth. Such was the case with Hastings.
The piece below really caught my eye. No superhero, famous character or even a creative design, this is a wonderful look at nature.
Go to LeviHastings.com for more info and images from Levi. Also check C2E2.com for news and scheduling.
