Cards That Never Were: Ryan Kurosaki Topps 1976

Cards That Never Were is a recurring series in which I create virtual trading cards for players missed in various sets. It is a concept I borrowed from far too many to list, but I appreciate all of their efforts.

After starring at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, pitcher Ryan Kurosaki signed as a free agent in 1974 with the St. Louis Cardinals. In mid-1975, he was called up to the MLB roster. He pitched in six games, going 13 innings with no decisions, but a 7.62 ERA. That would be it for his Major League career, although he played in the St. Louis organization through the 1980 season. Kurosaki was the first American player of full East Asian descent in MLB.

Naturally, for that effort, Topps did not give Kurosaki a card. I set out to fix that, but once again I found Lynn from the Custom Baseball Cards Facebook group beat me to it. Lynn produces thousands of cards and is probably the most prolific in the group, but many folks contribute and not just baseball cards. Since  there was no reason for me to create a card and I couldn't top Lynn anyway, I feature his creation..
