Cards That Never Were is a recurring series in which I create virtual trading cards for players missed in various sets. It is a concept I have borrowed from far too many to list, but I appreciate all of their efforts. Other creations of mine and many others can be found in the
Custom Baseball Cards Facebook group (which is not just baseball cards, despite the name).
After a successful college career at Alabama, punter Greg Gantt was selected by the New York Jets in the 8th round of the 1974 NFL Draft. Gantt played two seasons with the Jets, punting 134 times for an average of 36.2 yards per punt. That was his entire NFL career.
For his efforts, Gantt received a card in the Topps 1976 set. That left him needing a 1975 card. I planned on doing one, but Lynn from the aforementioned Custom Baseball Cards FB group beat me to it (and did a better job than I could have done).
