One of my most enjoyable writing experiences was covering sports for Global Women's Sports Radio. No longer in business, GWSR allowed me give coverage to all women's sports.
Henry, the man behind GWSR, recruited me for a while before I joined his staff. Eventually, I added editor to my responsibilities. I was working a lot of hours, covering a lot of sports and editing the work of others. It allowed me to sharpen my writing, editing and public relations skills.
Unfortunately, GWSR just couldn't get enough advertising and Henry sadly closed shop. I completely understand Henry's choice, but I was still disappointed.
Although he led a women's sports site, Henry loved all sports. A few years ago, he met baseball player Jimmy Glowenke. A second baseman, Glowenke was selected by the San Francisco Giants in the second round of the 2020 MLB draft. He has yet to make his MLB debut, but at 25, he still has plenty of time to move up.
GWSR was a great idea. Women's sports needs more coverage and exposure. Unfortunately, just like the sports themselves, there just wasn't enough support to keep it going. I do appreciate Hnry for the opportunity.
