Mike Carey and Chris Margetis at Flashback Weekend

Flashback Weekend returns August 15-17. Once again, I will be "On the Beat" at Chicago's longest-running horror convention.
I first met Mike Carey and Chris Margetis many years ago when they were promoting their film project The Manson Brothers Midnight Zombie Massacre. The next time I interviewed them, it was to promote that movie. That interview is at On the Beat With Mike Carey and Chris Margetis. I have to thank my pal Cuzz Gekas for leading me to them.
Mike and Chris are usually at Flashback. There are also dozens of other interesting folks. This year, the headliner is horror legend Robert Englund. Joe Dante, De Wallace, Danielle Harris and many more will also be there.
Flashback is a relatively smaller con, with everything you'd want from a big con. It is always a stop on my convention circuit.

Mike Carey and Chris Margetis at Flashback Weekend

Flashback Weekend returns August 5-7. This is one of my favorite conventions every year.
Last year, I met my friends Mike Carey and Chris Margetis, who were promoting The Manson Brothers Midnight Zombie Massacre, their interesting movie. My interview with them is at On the Beat With Mike Carey and Chris Margetis.
Chris and Mike are great guys. Besides that though, The Manson Brothers Midnight Zombie Massacre is a cool movie. The IMDB description is "After being relegated, the two fighting brothers signed up for a new game. But they didn't know that they need to stay in an arena to fight zombies."
It's got wrestling, zombies, gore, humor and more. Randy Couture is also in it, along with Mike and Chris. This is a movie I see becoming a cult classic, like Roddy Piper's They Live. I see it gaining populariy as the years pass, but I already like it!
Mike and Chris are not announced as guests for this year's Flashback Weekend, but if they aren't at a table, they will probably be roaming around the convention. Even if they aren't there, plenty of other cool folks will be there. Headlined by Robert Englund, Robert Carradine, Alex Winter, PJ Soles, Kelli Maroney, Donald Gibbs and several others are part of the lineup.
I'll be "On the Beat" at Flashback Weekend. Until then, check FlashbackWeekend.com for more info and updates.

On the Beat With Mike Carey and Chris Margetis

At the recent Flashback Weekend, I had the pleasure of interviewing Mike Carey and Chris Margetis about The Manson Brothers Midnight Zombie Massacre, their newest movie. Having known Mike and Chris for years, I am very excited to share the news about their movie.

At Flashback Weekend, there was a special screening of the movie and the reviews were excellent. While I was unable to attend the showing, several of my friends did and reported back to me. "It was fantastic," said my friend Charles Alexander. "A brilliant mix of horror and humor," exclaimed Anthony DiMera. Many others online expressed similar thoughts.

Written by Mike and Chris, The Manson Brothers Midnight Zombie Massacre stars the pair as the Manson brothers, two wrestlers who must fight zombies. D.B. Sweeney and Randy Couture also star in the movie.

For me, this movie has everything. Two great friends in Mike and Chris, horror, comedy, wrestling and more. Wrestling is the backdrop, but you don't have to be a wrestling fan to appreciate this film.

Mike and Chris started telling me about the movie a little while back. I could tell their passion for the project. "Labor of love" is a cliche, but in this case, it is appropriate. Mike and Chris are so excited and so proud, I couldn't help but become interested in the project. It killed me to miss the screening, but the movie will be released September 10.

Go to MansonBrothers.com or ITunes for more info and ordering instructions. I will be ordering this movie and I will do a review right here after seeing it. Go to On the Beat With Mike Carey and Chris Margetis to watch the interview.

Mike Carey and Chris Margetis at Flashback Weekend 2017

Flashback Weekend is returning to Rosemont from Friday, August 3 through through Sunday, August 5. It is a weekend of fun, celebrity guests and all sorts of events.
Unfortunately this year, I won't see my bud Mike Carey. That's the bad news. The good news is he can't be there because he is working on his upcoming movie.
We talked to Mike and Chris Margetis at last year's Flashback Weekend and they spoke a bit about the movie project. You can watch that interview at On the Beat With Mike Carey and Chris Margetis at Flashback Weekend
Mike and Chris are super excited about this movie and so am I. They promised to give me updates and possibly allow me on set if we can work it out. They know I'll be there if I can. I wouldn't miss that.
While I will miss not seeing Mike and Chris, I am looking forward to all of the other celebrities, friends, events and more at Flashback Weekend. I will also be thinking of my buds and wishing them well as their movie project develops. I look forward to covering it right here.
Check out FlashbackWeekend.com and the Flashback Weekend Facebook page to see who is appearing this year and what events are happening. I'll be there "On the Beat" and I hope to see may friends.

On the Beat With Mike Carey and Chris Margetis at Flashback Weekend 2017

I first met Mike Carey (M.J. Carey) at the premiere of Fancypants back in 2011.  I later learned that Cuzz Gekas knew Carey.  I have seen Carey every year since at Flashback Weekend.
This year, Mike was joined by Chris Margetis.  They were promoting their project The Manson Brothers Midnight Zombie Massacre.  They explain the concept in our interview below, but the movie does contain wrestling, zombies, mayhem and other fun stuff.
It's still a bit early in the whole production process of The Manson Brothers Midnight Zombie Massacre.  The movie is in pre-production.  They don't even have a website up and running yet, but they promised to relay that info to me and I will update everyone here as details are released.
I am looking forward to seeing the movie, but also the updates and the progress.  It sounds like it's going to be a fun movie.  Mike has invited be to go on set and to get behind-the-scenes coverage.  I'll be there and I'll report here!
As promised earlier, I will keep everyone updated as Mike and Chris update me.  Check here for news on The Manson Brothers Midnight Zombie Massacre.  You can also follow MJCarey99 on twitter and Chris Margetis on Facebook.
