Back to the Future with Claudia Wells

Claudia Wells portrayed Marty McFly's girlfriend in Back to the Future.  Unfortunately, she decided not to reprise her role in the sequels, due to her mother's battle with cancer.  It is probably not huge news, but that type of family commitment is refreshing and should be noted..
We met Wells at the Motor City Comic Con a few years ago.  She looked great and seemed to be having a fun time meeting her fans.  When the celebrities are having fun, it is a good bet that the fans will have fun, too.
Wells had recently returned to acting.  After appearing in tv's Brothers in 1986, she had stayed away from acting until 2008.  She appears to be working steadily these days.
I really liked Wells.  She played a major role in an iconic movie, but chose family over her career.  I suppose it is that sane attitude which endeared her to so many fans at the show.

Friendly Encounters

This is a weekly feature highlighting friends who have met celebs.

Chuck "Cuzz" Gekas made his first trek to the Motor City Comic Con this year. Cuzz has been to other such conventions, but this time I have the digital images documenting his celebrity encounters. One of his favorites from the MCCC was Claudia Wells.
I'll let Cuzz take over from here...
Claudia Wells played the role of Jennifer Parker in the first Back to the Future movie. She played Michael J. Fox's girlfriend and was the perfect girl next door. She was unable to participate in the sequels and was replaced by Elisabeth Shue, and while Shue is a fine actress, Claudia was actually much better suited for the part. Her absence was not the only problem with the sequels. The original was a very good movie with great characters, an interesting story line and a satisfying ending. The sequels were a convoluted mess with characters shifting back and forth in time which succeeded only in confusing and annoying most viewers.
Claudia was genuinely appreciative of fans who remembered her from her significant role in the movie.
I cannot disagree with anything Cuzz stated. Once again, his astutue assessment of the situation is dead on. I appreciate his thoughts and his willingness to share the photo. I also appreciate his solid photography at the event.
